Bald Eagle

I was meditating outside in the warm sun when a large dark shadow passed over me.  I opened my eyes in time to see an eagle flying low only a few yards away from me.  It landed on a nearby tree, where I was able to quickly snap a photograph before it took off again.

If you ever get to see an eagle close by, you will not wonder why so many cultures rank it highly among other animals.  It is a majestic sight to see such a large bird (it's wingspan is 7 1/2 feet!) soar overhead.

I am told the bald eagles spend the winters here fishing in the river, so I am excited about the chance to see more of these beautiful birds.
